Adderall

Adderall is an addictive prescription stimulant which contains a combination of amphetamine
and dextroamphetamine. Amphetamine and dextroamphetamine are central nervous system
stimulants that affect chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and
impulse control. Adderall may be habit-forming, and this medicine is a drug of abuse.
Amphetamines unleash dopamine along with norepinephrine, which rush through the brain’s
synapses and increases levels of arousal, attention, vigilance, and motivation. Dopamine, in fact,
tends to feature in every experience that feels especially great, be it having sex or eating
chocolate cake.
Do not use Adderall if you have used an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days, such as
isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, or
tranylcypromine. Adderall works by increasing dopamine levels in the brain. Dopamine, the
body’s “feel good” chemical, creates a rewarding effect.
Common Side Effects of Adderall:
● Bladder pain
● bloody or cloudy urine
● difficult, burning, or painful urination
● fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
● frequent urge to urinate
● lower back or side pain
Some side effects of amphetamine/dextroamphetamine may occur that usually do not need
medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the
medicine. Also, your healthcare professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or
reduce some of these side effects.
Adderall is available as immediate-release tablets or two different extended-release
formulations. The extended-release capsules are generally used in the morning. A shorter, 12-
hour extended-release formulation is available under the brand Adderall XR and is designed to
provide a therapeutic effect and plasma concentrations identical to taking two doses 4 hours
apart.
If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing,
call 911. Otherwise, call a poison control center right away. US residents can call their local
